Before the holidays, we were told to have a draft essay ready for peer review in the first week back. I found this quite stressful as I didn’t know what extent I had to go to for the draft. I printed out a few copies of my document and took it along with me to the tutorial. We were split into groups of who’s doing what question. I found myself in a group of people that I have never interacted with before, but I didn’t find myself shy at all. I began by going through the structure of my essay and what I am incorporating within to best answer the question. I feel like I am answering the question correctly, which is a is a relief as I was unsure until the peer reviews. I think the peer reviews really helped me expand the possibilities for my essay, as others in the group had different ideas for the question that also made a lot of sense. For example, the question asks to explore the relationship between music and design, and further look into “music services like Spotify and iTunes”. I had thought only to explore Spotify and iTunes and was finding is really hard to find the information that I needed to support my discussion. Another person in my group explained to me that it didn’t only need to be these particular services, but also ones like YouTube. Hearing this gave me a lot of relief as YouTube is exactly the service I needed to explore the relationship between music and design.
